BIOGRAPHY
Rosalynn De Roos is a clarinetist who has traveled
all over the world performing in countries such as: Belgium, France,
Ireland, Netherlands, Germany, Wales, South Korea and Japan. Flexible
in style Miss De Roos can be heard performing classical, twentieth
century, world music, Latin jazz and experimental improvisation.
This past summer Rosalynn traveled to Ireland with the actress Gin
Hammond; accompanying this dynamic one woman show called Syringa
Tree. This compelling performance was a feature in the Clonmel Junction
Festisval.
In May of 2006 Rosalynn toured Asia with P.A.N. an acronym for Performance
Art Network. This collaborative multimedia project is comprised
of live art, music, Butoh dance and a film called “Crosspollination”.
Invited to compete at the Chuncheon International Mime Festival
in South Korea, P.A.N. won the Dokkebi Award for new and experimental
works. Later P.A.N traveled to Japan to complete the tour performing
with internationally known guitarist ‘Dub
Marronics’ and
dancer Peter Golightly.
Her extensive training began with her enrollment at the Manhattan
School of Music prepatory division, studying under Herbert
Handman and performing with the Manhattan School of Music Symphony Orchestra.
She later studied with David Krakauer at the Mannes
College of Music and performed with the Mannes Symphony Orchestra. At Cornish
College of the Arts Rosalynn completed her Bachelors of Music Degree
in clarinet performance; studying under Jovino
Santos Neto, Sean Osborne and Hans Tueber. At Cornish Rosalynn performed in the Latin
Jazz Ensemble, small chamber ensembles and collaborated with dancers
to produce an interdisciplinary project called “Black
Women”.
Well versed in an array of musical styles, Rosalynn has performed
all over the Seattle area with groups such as the Puget Sound
Symphony Orchestra, the Degenerate Art Orchestra, the Everett Chorale,
Mo-Estra, Resonance Woodwind Quintet, Artha New Music Ensemble,
the Ladies Musical Club and Vira-Lata (choro ensemble). Current
projects include: The Midway Orchestra a heavy metal band part of
Pure Cirkus, Yellow Hat Band and her own ensemble Quartetto De Roos.
Thousands of audience members have heard Miss De Roos perform at
prestigious Seattle venues including The Moore Theatre, Benaroya
Hall, the Seattle Art Museum, the Seattle Asian Art Museum and Consolidated
Works. She has also performed at the Tacoma Museum of Glass, Rendezvous
Jewel Box Theater, Gallery 1412, Seattle City Hall, Richard Hugo
House, the Century Ballroom and Seattle Center. |
